The one thing about the medical insurance industry is the wealth of studies they do. There are some studies that just serve to prove other studies are wrong. The advantage is you get to decide which of the studies you want to believe in. Here is a listing of a few supposedly bad foods that have a study to show just how healthy they are.

Here are some “bad” consumables that may, under the right circumstances, actually be good for you:

  1. Enjoy a bit of red wine

Some of the world’s healthiest populations enjoy a glass of red wine every day. The French in particular to this fermented smashed grape juice. Red wine contains a world of antioxidants. This is just the tip of the iceberg though. Some red wines have shown to increase endurance, reduce gum disease, and help keep Alzheimer’s at bay.

  1. Chocolate melts in your mouth and not in your hand

Study after study has shown chocolate to be loaded with healthy benefits. Some benefits include fighting off cancer, keeping your arteries from plugging up, and increased blood flow to your thinker. Now you have a reason to enjoy one extra s’more are the campfire this summer.

  1. Coffee gets you going

Coffee comes in so many names. One thing this glorious cup of go juice comes with is a side of get up and get going. On top of all that jolting caffeine, you get a dose of antioxidants. Top it off with a chance to help keep diabetes at a lower risk. Of course, this is not the green light to go chuck a pot, or ten, of the brown java juice. Moderation is the word of the day when it comes to your morning cup of Joe.

  1. Mary Jane is medicinal

Marijuana is quite possibly the one consumable that has a whirlwind of publicity. Marijuana joins with studies showing that it has caused all kinds of memory loss. Yet, like all studies, some new studies have shown that marijuana keeps one of the ultimate forms of memory loss at bay. That’s right, marijuana helps fend off Alzheimer’s.

Some studies have shown that the anti-inflammatory found in marijuana actually breaks up the clumping proteins in the brain. These clumping proteins are a major source for Alzheimer’s. This is not a golden ticket to break the law though. You still need a doctor’s ok before you light up.

  1. Beer is number one

There is so much beer in the world that a person could hunt down the best beers and never find that golden pint of godliness. People like to rag on beer for causing the ever-loved beer gut. Sure, beer may not contain all the anti-oxidants of a good Pinot Noir, but there are some benefits to a good pint.

One study has shown beer to can actually improve cardiovascular functions. Now this is not the go ahead to chug down a case every night. The research focuses on moderate beer consumption. Moderate means one beer a night for those of you true beer connoisseurs.

Now your medical insurance may not enjoy you consuming a pound of chocolate, but chocolate in moderation has some benefits. Time to raise a glass of cold beer to the lab rats working for the medical insurance industry to prove just how healthy that pint is for you.
